Accessibility

Last updated: October 22, 2026

We want everyone to be able to read Bypass Hollywood. This page describes the accessibility work that has actually been done on this site — and, just as honestly, its limits.

What is in place

  • Skip link. Every page starts with a “Skip to content” link so keyboard and screen-reader users can go straight to the article.
  • Alt text on images. Images on this site carry alternative text from our media library. We filled in the alt text that was missing across the library, and if an image’s alt text is ever empty, the site now falls back to the image’s title — or the title of the article it belongs to — instead of showing a blank.
  • Keyboard use and visible focus. Menus, links, buttons and forms can be reached by keyboard, and the site shows a clear gold focus outline around the item you are on. The cookie notice’s Accept and Reject buttons work by keyboard as well.
  • Labelled form fields. Every form field on this site has a label. That includes the contact form (name, email, subject, message) and the search boxes; if a search box ever appears without a label, the site adds the accessible name “Search this site” to it automatically.
  • No auto-playing media. Nothing on this site plays sound or video on its own.

What we have not done

This site has not had a formal audit against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and we do not claim full WCAG conformance. The site’s design comes from a third-party WordPress theme, and some parts of it may still fall short — for example, some older article formatting.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us through the contact form. Say which page you were on and what went wrong. We will fix the barrier, or give you the same content in a way that works for you, and we will reply to let you know what we did.
